Last meeting for June This Friday

16 06 2011

Hello all-

I’m sorry it has been so long since the last post!

I invite you to join us for our last June meeting this Friday (tomorrow) at the Wired Monk in Murrayville (corner of 22nd and 48th).  Stop in around 7-8:30 pm for this part informal conversation/part celebration of what God has been up to in this community over the past 3 months.  I will be leaving the country on Monday for approximately 3 weeks, but hope to start these meetings back up in mid-July.

I hope to see you all there, even if just to have a chance to say “goodbye for now.”

The best part?  A special desert from Down Under will also be there for you to enjoy!  You won’t want to miss this!

Blessings,

Sarah, House Pastor

Common goals and Wendell Berry

24 05 2011

Happy Victoria Day (yesterday) to all you Canadians out there!

Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to connect with an organization called A Rocha.  A Rocha is a Christian conservation organization with projects in over 20 countries.  Their Canadian efforts are what is based just down the road from LifeTogether in Lanley’s proposed site.  Yesterday I visited their Brooksdale Environmental Center and farm and met many of the lovely people who work and volunteer within their organization.  I am hoping to continue to learn more about A Rocha, and spend some more time with the people that work there!

On a similar note…today I have the extreme privilege to see the one and only Wendell Berry speak in Seattle.  He is one of the biggest influences in my own development of an integrated theology and faith life.  As Berry is getting older and he doesn’t engage in speaking gigs all that often, this is perhaps my one opportunity to hear him in person.

Also, I invite all who can to come to the Wired Monk in Murrayville at 7pm on Friday night to talk about Christian community. Specifically this Friday I’d like to talk about the relation of our faith practice to our everyday living.  Please come one and all!

Blessings,

Sarah

Intro Video has arrived!

16 05 2011

I know you all have been waiting to see the video I’ve been working on about LifeTogether in Langley…and it is finally finished.  The editing process always takes so much longer than I think it will, especially when I keep changing what the vision for the video is! It debuted this weekend at Cedarcreek Covenant Church in Maple Valley, WA and people seemed to really appreciate seeing a little bit of what we’re working on up here.  I am planning a follow up FAQ video and I am creating some info brochures as well.

I am excited to meet with and speak to people and groups that are interested in talking more about Christian community and LifeTogether in Langley.   Please email or call me!

And here is it:

Updated “About Us” page and links

29 04 2011

Well folks,

I’m pretty excited, because I’ve actually started to figure out how this WordPress thing works!  I’ve had a lot of trouble adding information, but I now have successfully updated the About Us section with a bit more information.  I’ve also added links and a Contact Us page.  Very soon I will be uploading a video to tell you more about the community.  Are you excited or what??!

Meanwhile, the rain keeps making things green and growing here in B.C.  And muddy.  But OH! is it glorious when the sun is shining with the backdrop of the mountains and brilliant green everywhere with splashes of color from the flowering trees and bushes.  This afternoon was one of those times.  *sigh* happiness. :-)
